Nonlinear effects of thermal instability. Interstellar medium cooling
Description
Early nonlinear stages of thermal instability are described by means of hydrodynamic equations solution in the short-wave approximation. It is shown that the nonlinear growth of small density perturbations leads to effective cooling of the thermally unstable gas. The possibility of clouds' formation as a result of compression on unstable regions in the interstellar medium is considered
