Skin dose verification for intact breast radiation therapy

Description

The author's treatment protocol for the intact breast requires computer-generated isodoses to ensure that the treatment volume receives a uniform dose. A wedge is normally used to compensate for the tissue slope from base to apex. The major drawbacks of this method are that it is a two-dimensional (2D) plan of a 3D object and that the isodoses in the skin region have the greatest uncertainty. This study determines the relationship between the simulations and the doses given to the skin at the breast apex
