Heat transfer aspect of nuclear waste disposal
Description
Thermal aspects of the disposal of high-level nuclear waste are reviewed as fundamental heat transfer problems on several time and space scales. Engineering heat transfer correlations available for local and average Nusselt numbers in the bundle are reviewed. Several methods of heat transfer analysis, as well as experimental data obtained with laboratory simulations are summarized. Results presented provide a basis for assessing convective species transport (coupled thermal, hydrological and chemical transport) on both repository and geologic scales
