Advances and problems in radiation monitoring of soils and plants

The scientific-coordination conference ''Results and prospects of radiation monitoring of soils and plants'' was conducted in March, 1983 in the Research Institute of Agricultural Radiology, USSR (Obninsk). It was stated at the conference that experimental investigations on radiation monitoring of soils and plants were carried out at large extend. Noticeable works on estimation of behaviour of products of global precipitations (90Sr and 137Cs) in different soil-plant zones of the USSR are pointed out. Field studies on radiation monitoring in agricultural areas near NPPs make progress. Researches on radiation monitoring in irrigated agricultural regions are conducted. Problems in further investigations on radiation monitoring of soils and plants are outlined
