The team approach to diagnosis: Preoperative localization and specimen radiography
Creators
- 1. Dept. of Radiology, Div. of Diagnostic Radiology, St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, NJ (USA)
Description
The importance of cooperation between surgeon, radiologist, and pathologist cannot be overemphasized. By working together as a team, these physicians enable the discovery of the nonpalpable lesion and facilitate its localization and removal. If the lesion is benign, the patient loses only a small amount of breast tissue, with little, if any resultant deformity. If the lesion is malignant, a proper, unhurried approach to the treatment of the lesions is undertaken. It was stated that the word team is defined as ''a group on one side in a match with a desire to win ... with each team member contributing and willing to learn from and share with his team members
