CaSO4: Dy + Teflon thermoluminescent dosemeters
Description
A pellet dosemeter of CaSO4: Dy + Teflon was developed at IPEN. CaSO4: Dy thermoluminescent phosphor, grown in the Dosimetric Materials Production Laboratory was chosen, due to its high sensitivity, ease of preparation and comparatively low cost. Pellets were produced by cold pressing and sintering a mixture of CaSO4: Dy and Teflon powders. Extensive work was done to study in detail all CaSO4: Dy pellets characteristics from the point of view of dosimetry with the purpose of introducing it in the routine use. A filter combination providing an energy independent response from 20 KeV to 1,25 MeV was obtained. The dosemeter consists of three pellets sealed between two thin plastic sheets and placed under plastic and lead filters. The combination of these tree filters allows the exposure as well as the energy determination of an unknown source. (Author)

Foram desnvolvidas no IPEN pastilhas dosimetricas de CaSO4: Dy + Teflon. O fosforo termoluminescente escolhido foi o CaSO4: Dy, crescido no Laboratorio de Producao de Materiais Dosimetricos, devido a alta sensibilidade a facilidade de obtencao e ao comparativamente baixo custo. As pastilhas foram obtidas pela prenssagem a frio e a sinterizacao de uma mistura de CaSO4: Dy + Teflon, ambos sob a forma de po. Um estudo detalhado das propriedades dosimetricas foi realizado, com o objetivo de introduzir as pastilhas em uso rotineiro de monitoracao. Uma combinacao especial de filtros foi desenvolvida, para a obtencao de uma resposta independente da energia entre 20 KeV e 1,25 MeV. O dosimetro consiste de tres pastilhas seladas em filme fino de plastico, sob filtros de plasticos e chumbo. A combinacao desses tres filtros permite a determinacao da exposicao bem como da energia da radiacao incidente. (Autor)Additional details
