Description
Redox reactions of aqueous chloramphenicol (CPL) solutions with H eaq-, (CH3)2(OH)C, CCl3O2 were studied using technique of pulse radiolysis. It was observed that the H attacks at different sites of chloramphenicol. The spectrum of the transient obtained on reaction of eaq- with chloramphenicol becomes broader in alcoholic solutions. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) shows formation of several degradation products on irradiation. (author). 2 refs., 2 figs
