In the framework of jet spaces, the author presents new geometrical techniques and new results on the Lagrangian formulation of classical gauge theories. His main tool is a canonical jet shift covariant differential introduced recently. The results refer to a theorem of the Utiyama-type of interaction as well as to other questions related to the minimal coupling conditions
