Consideration given to the opinions, etc. expressed in the public hearing on the alteration in reactor installation (addition of Unit 2) in the Shimane Nuclear Power Station of The Chugoku Electric Power Company, Inc

To the opinions, etc. expressed by the local people in the public hearing held in May, 1983, on the addition of Unit 2 to the Shimane Nuclear Power Station, Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc., full consideration has been given by the Nuclear Safety Commission in its examination on the alteration. The consideration given by NSC to the opinions, etc. is described in the form of answers to the questions, i.e. the opinions, etc., by the local people which cover the following items: siting conditions (earthquake, meteorology, etc.), the safety design of the reactor installation (aseismatic design, reactor core design, ECCS, the learning from TMI (U.S.) and Tsuruga incidents etc.), radioactive waste management, radiation exposure, siting evaluation, technical capability.
