Early estimation of yield of Hevea clones

Owing to the so called ''slow starter'' and ''quick starter'', yield performance of clones of Hevea is estimated based on 5 years successive recording of yields. Added to this with the non-productive period (5-6 years) it would be too long a time for a Hevea breeder. Therefore a technique of early estimation of yield is a paramount importance to shorten this breeding cycle. This paper summarizes morphological and physiological approach proposed by Hevea breeders.
