Papers of the 5. annual unconventional gas and coalbed methane conference : The future of unconventional gas is now

Coalbed methane (CBM) is an unconventional gas resource which is on the verge of becoming a major new source of energy in Canada. This conference provided information and insight to participants on the first commercial natural gas from coal (NGC) production in Canada, booking Canadian CBM reserves, shale gas and gas hydrate potential in Canada, and new technologies for the identification and evaluation of unconventional gas potential. Speakers also addressed public policy and external stakeholder issues through presentations made by community action groups, environmental groups, multi-stakeholder synergy groups, the Alberta and British Columbia governments, and industry.The conference sessions focused on issues regarding gas shales, landfill gas and hydrates, new technology for unconventional plays, regulatory and legal issues, CBM project, CBM technology case studies, unconventional operations and economics, and economic evaluation of CBM/NGC.
