Event by event variation of <ρΤ > of photons in Pb + Pb collisions at 158 A GeV

  • 1. Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, Calcutta (India)

Description

One of the spectacular predictions of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) is that at high energy density or temperature the hadronic matter may undergo a phase transition to a new state of matter comprising of free quarks and gluons, called Quark-Gluon Plasma(QGP). An attempt has been made to calculate the < ρΤ > for photons on an event by event basis with Photon Multiplicity Detector(PMD) in WA98 experiment in Pb+Pb collision at 158 A GeV
