Experience of Japanese performance demonstration and future direction

Description

On November 1, 2005, Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry (CRIEPI) established PD Center to contribute for the safety of nuclear power plant by taking a key role in the Japanese Performance Demonstration system. At the end of March 2006, Japanese Performance Demonstration (JPD) for flaw depth sizing of austenitic stainless steel pipes started. As of beginning of June 2006, 6 JPD examinations had been done for 18 candidates and 9 personnel had successfully cleared the acceptance criteria. This paper explains JPD qualification system and examination practice. It reviews the performance of candidates based on statistical analysis. (author)
