An interpretation of discrete energy loss in He+ ion scattering from W surfaces containing oxygen

  • 1. Osaka Univ., Suita (Japan). Faculty of Engineering

Description

In ISS with He+ ions, a double peak spectrum is found for the W surface including oxygen. The double peak is due to the inelastic scattering process concerned. To interpret this inelastic process, characteristics of the peak are investigated by varying the incident energy and the impact angle. The loss peak separated by about 20 eV is interpreted as the re-ionization loss of the once Auger neutralized He ions. (author)
