Electron spectrometry study (ESCA) of niobium and its oxides. Application to the oxidation at high temperature and low oxygen pressure
Description
A detailed study by electron spectrometry (ESCA) of the chemical shift has been carried out with samples of niobium and the oxides of this metal. It has been further shown that under a transition temperature (700 deg C with polycrystalline samples) NbO is obtained in the following conditions: 9.10-5 Torr of oxygen at 650 deg C. Above the transition temperature and for instance at 800 deg C, at the same pressure, no oxide appears at the surface of the metal

Une etude detaillee du deplacement chimique a ete realisee avec des echantillons de niobium et les oxydes de ce metal. Les resultats obtenus ont ensuite servi a montrer l'existence d'un oxyde de type NbO a la surface du niobium, lors de son oxydation a 650 deg C sous une pression de 9.10-5 Torr d'oxygene, et l'absence d'oxyde lors de son oxydation a 800 deg C dans les memes conditions de pressionAdditional details
