Description
The development of the French nuclear energy programme until the oil crisis of 1973 and the subsequent modification of the programme is described. The programme is characterized by the decision in 1969 to abandon the gas-graphite reactors in favour of the light-water reactors and after 1973 by the accelerated extension of nuclear energy with emphasis for the fast breeder reactors as well as by the intention to stop the commission of fossil-fired power plants. The policy of the standard construction programme and the distribution of roles played by EdF and French nuclear power industry is broached. Furthermore the actual state of nuclear energy programme as well as an outlook until the mid-eighties is given. As the planned nuclear energy programme is connected with a strong increase of uranium requirement, the fuel provision is shortly dealt with at the end. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Mehr als zehn Jahre wurde in Frankreich die Baulinie des Gasgraphitreaktors verfolgt, bis 1969 die Entscheidung fiel, nur noch Leichtwasserreaktoren zu bauen. 1970 begann die EDF mit dem Bau des ersten eigenen Druckwasserreaktors, Fessenheim I. Ein bemerkenswerter Wandel des franzoesischen Kernenergieprogramms vollzog sich nach der Oelkrise 1973: Anstelle einer Auftragsvergabe von ein bis zwei 900-MW-Bloecken pro Jahr wurden sechs Bloecke vorgesehen mit dem Ziel, bis 1980 ca. 15 000 MWe und bis 1985 ca. 40 000 MWe zu installieren. Wie vorher bei fossil gefeuerten Kraftwerken verwendet die EDF auch fuer das Kernenergieprogramm standardisierte Blockgroessen. Auf dreissig 900-MWe-Bloecke sollen ebensoviele 1300-MWe-Bloecke und dann schnelle Natriumbrueter mit Bloecken zwischen 1200 und 1800 MWe folgen. (orig.)Additional details
