Description
A relativistic version of the statistical model of a color-singlet meson has been presented when a valence quark or antiquark is assumed to move in an average background potential of the linear or harmonic-oscillator type. With f(r) and g(r) representing the usual components of the relativistic wave function, our model suggests Vertical Bar f(r) Vertical Bar2/r2 Vertical Bar g(r) Vertical Bar2 → α (a constant) for 0<r< or approx. =r0, unlike the bag-model prediction. With g/sub A//g/sub V/ as an input, α is explicitly determined; subsequent calculations with this α as an input yield reasonable estimates for the magnetic moment μ/sub q/ of a relativistic quark magnetic interaction energy Δ E/sub M/ and the pion-nucleon sigma term
