Description
The paper reviews positronium and the initial stage of radiolysis of liquids. The mechanism of positronium atom formation is discussed with respect to intratrack processes, radiolytic molecular hydrogen formation in water, quasifree electron participation, and times of formation. A diffusion-recombinational model of positronium formation is described, and its application to intratrack processes is examined. Chemical reactions of positronium and the solvated electron are also looked at. (U.K.)
