Vertical distribution of gamma heating in IRT-5000 reactor irradiation channels

Creators

Description

The field of radiation in nuclear reactors is extremely complicated and at least three kinds of radiation must be considered in the process of energy transfer to materials. The first fast neutrons, The second is γ-rays produced by fission and by the decay of fission products, and the third α and γ-rays from the induced activities in the materials themselves. This work presents the results of experimental measurements of vertical gamma heat generation distribution in the Be-Trap and in the vertical experimental channels of the IRT-5000 reactor core. The measurements have been performed by means of a calorimeter
