The electromagnetic calorimeter of the CMS experiment

  • 1. INFN Sezione di Roma, P.le A. Moro 2, 00185 Roma (Italy)

Description

The Electromagnetic Calorimeter of the CMS experiment is made of 75848 Lead Tungstate scintillating crystals. This challenging project aims to achieve an extreme precision in the energy measurement of photons and electrons. General motivation, main technical challenges, measured performance and the present status of the project will be discussed
