Dosimetry of radionuclides in blood

Creators

Description

Methods have been developed for determining the absorbed fraction in blood for low-energy photons, monoenergetic electrons and β spectra emitted by radionuclides uniformly distributed within it. The absorbed dose to blood calculated on the assumption that all non-penetrating radiations are totally absorbed is shown to be overestimated by up to more than 50 per cent for β emitters and by up to greater than 20 per cent for nuclides having a large dose contribution from conversion electrons.
