Thermodynamics of formation reactions of uranyl mono- and dichlorides in molten alkali metal chlorides

Description

On the basis measurement of equilibrium electrode potentials of uranium dioxide the values of conventional standard electrode potentials Esub(UOsub(2)sup(+)/UOsub(2)) *, Esub(UOsub(2)sup(2+)/UOsub(2)) *, of conventional formal redox potential Esub(UOsub(2)sup(2+)/UOsub(2)sup(+)) * depending on the temperature and cation radius in molten chlorides of alkali metals are determined. Thermodynamics of formation of diluted solutions of uranyl mono- and dichloride in molten salts is calculated. Expression for conventional equilibrium constant of the reaction UOsub(2)Clsub(2)sub(molten)+UOsub(2)sub(solid)=2UOsub(2)Clsub(molten) depending on the temperature and ion momentum of alkali metal cation in the salt electrolytes studied is found
