Stability of the superconducting wires
Creators
- 1. Kurchatov Inst. for Atomic Energy, 123182, Moscow (USSR)
Description
In this paper stability problems and their impact on the conductor and magnet design are discussed. Stability against electromagnetic disturbances and mechanical disturbances are considered. Stabilizing and destabilizing factors are compared, such as the additional energy release due to current nonuniformity and transient absorption of the heat by helium. Role of the smoothness of the transition characteristics of the superconductor is discussed
