Description
Objective: To observe the preventive and therapeutic effect of Chinese medicine to radioaction stomatitis or pharyngolaryngitis. Methods: 62 cases were distributed to treatment group or control group randomly. Patients in treatment group were given 'Cool and Moist Soup' as mouthwash frequently through out radiation therapy, while those in control group accepted complex furacillin solution. Then the degree and duration of stomatitis or pharyngolaryngitis during the radiation therapy were observed and recorded. Results: No significant difference were observed in the morbidity of radiation stomatitis or pharyngolaryngitis between the two groups (P>0.05). Compared with the control group, the treatment group has lighter symptoms (P<0.05 and <0.01, respectively), obviously shorter duration of symptoms (P<0.01), and significantly shorter time of severe symptoms (P<0.01 and <0.05, respectively). Conclusions: The 'Cool and Moist Soup' can relieve radioaction stomatitis or pharyngolaryngitis, shorten disease course, promote recovery and ensure the radiation therapy to proceed smoothly.
