Lifetime measurements in the Co I and Fe I spectra using tunable dye laser excitation

Description
Radiative lifetimes of single fine structure levels of the multiplets y4G0, y4F0, y2G0 of the Co I configuration 3d8(a3F)4p were measured. Furthermore, lifetime measurements of Fe I levels belonging to the 3d7(a4F)4py5D0 and the 3d64s(a4D)4pz3P0 multiplets were performed. The levels were excited by a nitrogen laser pumped dye laser, whose output was frequency doubled: the lifetimes were determined directly form the exponential decay of the fluorescence. The results are used to convert the gf values given in the literature to an absolute scale. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die Strahlungslebensdauern einzelner Feinstrukturniveaus der Multipletts y4G0, y4F0, y2G0 der Co I-Konfiguration 3d8(a3F)4p und die Lebensdauern der zu den Multipletts 3d7(a4F)4py5D0 und 3d64s(a4D)4pz3P0 gehoerigen Fe I-Niveaus wurde gemessen. Die Niveaus wurden mit einem stickstofflasergepumpten Farblaser angeregt, dessen Ausgang frequenzverdoppelt war; die Lebensdauern wurden direkt aus dem exponentiellen Zerfall der Fluoreszenz bestimmt. Mit den Ergebnissen werden die in der Literatur angegebenen gf-Werte auf eine Absolutskala uebertragen. (orig./AK)Additional details
