Ion source with simultaneous surface ionization of six specimens for the MI-1201 mass spectrometer

Description
A design of a solid-phase ion source for the mass-spectrometer is described. It is intended for a simultaneous loading of six specimens. In the suggested design the specimen vaporization is effected by the ionizer thermal radiation with the required vapor density maintained by a slight change in its temperature. A step-by-step electric motor mounted directly in the ion source ensures a high accuracy of the vaporizer setting to the operating position when replacing the specimens, without using any mechanisms for transmitting motion to the high vacuum region. The reproducibility of the analysis results is not worse than 0.1 percent. The design of the source described allows to carry out under identical conditions a comparison of a specimen with a reference sample deposited on one or more vaporizer bands, which provides for a high accuracy of measurements
