Single-top analysis optimization for the ATLAS 10 TeV run at the LHC

Description

The production of single top at the LHC is expected to be substantial, approximately one third of the top-pair production cross section. However, the final states are difficult to distinguish from Standard Model background and therefore a careful optimization of the object selection and topological cuts is needed. Once a statistically significant data sample has been collected, this optimization will be calibrated with data. We present methods and results of this optimization for an integrated luminosity of 100 pb-1 for ATLAS.
