Nonlinear transformations and the Heisenberg limit

  • 1. Departamento de Optica, Facultad de Ciencias Fisicas, Universidad Complutense, 28040 Madrid (Spain)

Description

We show that nonlinear transformations provide better resolution than linear transformations for the detection of small signals. We show that the uncertainty decreases for increasing photon number faster than the rate established by the Heisenberg limit for phase shifts and displacements
