Vertical viewing ECE diagnostic for the DIII-D tokamak
Description
The vertical viewing ECE diagnostic on DIII-D will be used to assess the non-thermal electron distributions resulting from ECRH and Electron Cyclotron Current Drive experiments. Electron cyclotron emission along a vertical chord is collected using an ellipsodal focusing mirror and retro-reflector (the latter to minimize wall reflections). The emission is then transported /approximately/20m using a quasi-optical transport system comprised of 8 lenses and 3 mirrors, and detected between the 2nd and the 10th harmonicas by a fast scanning (40 Hz) Michelson interferometer. The entire system has been aligned using a Gaussian beam simulator and absolutely calibrated, in-situ using a cold liquid nitrogen bath.
