Stability aspects of the intermetallics with Laves phases structure
- 1. Moskovskij Inst. Stali i Splavov (USSR)
Description
Nuclear gamma-resonance method was used to measure the values of chemical shifts in nuclei of iron-57 in Fe2X phases, where X is Nb, Mo, W. The density of S-electrons in the nucleus of iron decreases with the growth in the electron concentration and a rise in temperature. The phase becomes unstable below a certain value of electron density. It is supposed that the stability of the intermetallides of this type is due to the presence in the interatomic bond of a covalent contribution
