Improving NPP safety and economic efficiency by upgrading reactor coolant pump maintenance process

Description
The paper present analysis of challenges encountered during maintenance of the reactor coolant pump (RCP) main connector and explains the necessity of RCP service modernization. The multistage hydraulic wrench was produced and patented to solve certain issues during the operation. Automatic axis centering with the pump connector is the main operation principle the device is based on. Body studs are gripped and pulled, device automatically tightens the studs set moment then removing the tensile forces. The article given a detailed description and principles of device operation
