Study of the autoionization in He0/He collisions between 10 and 140 keV

Description

Excitation cross section for the autoionizing states of helium atom as observed in the He0 on He collision between 10 and 140 keV, have been measured. Total excitation cross section are deduced from the angular distribution for the 2s21S, 2s2p3P, 2p21D and 2s2p1P autoionizing states and allow for the He-(1s2s2)2S resonance. The excitation cross section for the target lines are compared to the corresponding values obtained for the projectile atom. A detailed study of the broadening of the lines emitted by the incident particle, which is related to the DOPPLER shift and to the angular acceptance of the analyser, is also given

Abstract (French)

L'analyse des electrons ejectes lors de la collision He0/He entre 10 et 140 keV a permis d'obtenir les sections efficaces differentielles puis totales d'excitation des etats autoionisants de l'atome d'helium. Ces resultats sont presentes sous la forme de distributions angulaires et de distributions en energie pour chacun des etats suivants: (2s2)1S, (2s23P), (2p2)1D, (2s2p)1P et (1s2s2)2S. Une etude particuliere du phenomene d'elargissement des raies emises par les particules rapides a partir de l'effet DOPPLER et de l'acceptance de l'analyseur est egalement presentee et permet la comparaison entre les sections efficaces d'excitation de la cible et celles du projectile
