Description

The actinide intermetallics are one of the most interesting and important series of compounds. Thermodynamic properties provide one of the keys to characterizing electronic interactions in actinide intermetallics. Thermochemistry of these compounds plays a significant role in understanding the nature of bonding in alloys and their nuclear fuel performance. In the present paper we report theoretical calculations using the WignerSeitz Model for determining the enthalpy of formation of the seven intermetallics in the Th-Rh system, and comparison with the formation values of a few thorium rhodium intermetallics determined experimentally.
