Description
The electronic structure of UPd3 has been determined by means of XPS and BIS experiments. The core level line shapes and the valence band spectra of occupied and empty states clearly reveal the localized character of the 5f electrons in this actinide compound. From these spectra their Coulomb correlation energy is found to be about 2 eV. (author)
