Description

In order to clarify the effects of temperature and dissolved oxygen concentration on SCC behavior of low-alloy steels, slow strain rate tensile (SSRT) tests were applied for the three different heats of low alloy steels with various chemical composition and different processing experiences under various temperature and dissolved oxygen concentration conditions. The following results were obtained. Rolled steels with high sulfur content have high SCC susceptibility at wide region of temperature-DO concentration, and it suffered even below DO < 0.005 ppm at 200degC. A forged steel with extremely low sulfur contents is almost immune to SCC. SCC maps derived from area fraction of SCC were obtained for each steel. (author)
