Improving outdoor air quality. Acting in all sectors
Description
The 2013 and 2016 versions of the same publication are provided. After some brief definitions of important notions (air pollutants, proximity pollution, long range pollution, values and thresholds defined in air quality standards), and a brief indication of the main effects of air pollution on health (contamination routes, influencing factors, immediate and long term effects), a table contains a list of pollutants, their origin, a brief description of their impact on health and of the impact on the environment). Some statistical data are provided, and the history of legal and planning tools is recalled (law on air quality, plans for atmosphere protection, plan for particles, emergency plan for air quality). The present situation is then described through graphs (evolutions of NO2 and particle concentrations in different environments, evolution of high pollution events). Graphs then indicate the levels of various pollutants (SO2, NOx, NH3, VOC, particles) in the emissions of different sectors (transport, housing and office building, industry, agriculture) and the main measures adopted regarding these sectors to reduce these emissions
