Three-alpha model calculations and the O2+ state of 12C

  • 1. Arizona Univ., Tucson (USA). Dept. of Physics

Description

We consider 12C as the bound state of three finite structureless alpha particles interacting with the l-dependent pairwise α-α potential ao Ali and Bodmer (AB). We perform a variational calculation in coordinate space with a trial wavefunction expanded in terms of harmonic oscillator (HO) states which are translationally invariant, completely symmetric, and have a well defined total angular momentum. The coefficients of the expansion, as well as the oscillator frequency, are treated as variational parameters. (orig./WL)

Abstract (German)

(orig./WL)
