Description
The dissertation thesis focuses on the evaluation of a selenium oxyanions sorption onto surfaces of ferric oxyhydroxides, and the characterization of this complex process as well. The main objective is to evaluate and demonstrate this phenomenon by applying various standard scientific approaches in the context of experimental modelling of potential 79Se-leakage from storage of high-level radioactive waste. Furthermore, this work reviews some of the corrosion studies related to aforementioned issue. It also assesses various standard empirical models, spectroscopic methods, and statistical modeling approaches that are used for the evaluation of sorption phenomenon. Finally, this work highlights the efficiency of ferric oxyhydroxides in removal of selenium from waste-water. (author)
