The renal corona - a sign of fluid in the anterior pararenal space

Description
The presence of a renal corona on a plain film of the abdomen raises the suspicion of necrosis of the pancreas in the course of acute pancreatitis. Two cases were observed showing this sign and the findings confirmed at operation. The use of this sign may influence treatment. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Im Gegensatz zu den bisher bekannten Roentgensymptomen der akuten Pankreatitis besteht mit der Nierenkorona im Leerbild bereits die Moeglichkeit, den Verdacht auf eine nekrotisierende Form der Pankreatitis zu aeussern. Anhand zweier operativ bestaetigter Faelle wird dargelegt, dass mit Hilfe dieses Zeichens das therapeutische Vorgehen beeinflusst werden kann. (orig.)Additional details
