Extraction of uranium(6) by di-2-ethylhexylmethylphosphonate and di-2-ethylhexylphosphite

  • 1. Volgogradskij Politekhnicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

Extraction of uranium(6) from nitric, perchloric, sulphuric, and hydrochloric acid solutions by di-2-ethylhexylmethylphosphonate and di-2-ethylhexylphosphite has been examined. The effect of acid concentration on the extraction has been studied. Compositions of the complexes extracted are suggested. Extraction constants for di-2-ethylhexylphosphite have been determined. Both extractants can be used for extraction of uranium(6) micro amounts from nitric acid solutions, di-2-ethylhexylphosphite being more effective. To separate uranyl ion from interfering elements, the extraction in the presence of EDTA is recommended
