Magnetic order of well-localized Yb3+ moments in Yb4Rh7Ge6
Description
We grew single crystals of the compound Yb4Rh7Ge6 and investigated its susceptibility, resistivity and specific heat. Our results evidence a stable Yb3+state, which orders presumably antiferromagnetically at 0.49 K. The crystal-electric-field ground-state doublet is well separated from the excited states. The stable Yb3+ state likely results from the very short Yb-Rh and Yb-Ge nearest neighbor distances in the Yb4Rh7Ge6structure
