Clinical experiences in the determination of ureteral mobility

  • 1. Vienna Univ. (Austria). 2. Medizinische Klinik

Description

Uretral motility after a method described by Mueller-Schauenburg was determined in 83 hypertensive patients referred to renography. Several criteria to assess the motility pictures were used in order to assess their potential clinical usefulness. It has been found that the 'normal' peristaltic wave in the hydrated patient shows a propagation time from the pelvic region to the bladder of about 13 seconds and that the interval between them is approximately 30 second. In hypertensive patients under treatment the propagation velocity, as indicated by the initial slope of the characteristic pattern, was found to be reduced, indicating a possible application of the method in pharmacodynamic investigations.
