Automatic fluoroglass dosimetry system
- 1. Toshiba Glass Co. Ltd., Tokyo (Japan)
Description
The authors have developed the world's first fully automatic fluoroglass dosimetry system in cooperation with Karlsruhe Nuclear Research Center of West Germany. The system uses a new slide-type flat glass dosemeter with optimized energy compensation filter, and provides measurements both in terms of exposure and depth dose equivalent, H'(10). Up to 500 dosemeters can be continuously measured by magazines while the ID numbers assigned to the dosemeters can be automatically read. The processing and management of data are automatic. The system described here facilitates the management of routine personal exposure monitoring, particularly in the larger plants where a greater number of workers may be susceptible to the risks of radiation exposure. The system is expected to encourage the use of the fluoroglass dosemeter. (author)
