New organization of nuclear safeguarding and radiation protection in France

On the 22nd of last February, Decree no. 2002-225 was approved in France, creating the Directorate-General for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (DGSNR). This Directorate, which constitutes a new form of the Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN), comprises both the Directorate for Safety of Nuclear Installations (DSIN) and surveillance services provided by Government for protecting the population against radiation.
