Control method for coil currents of hybrid poloidal field coil system in a tokamak reactor

  • 1. Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute, Tokai-mura, Naka-gun, Ibaraki-ken

Description

This paper describes a new control method for coil currents of a hybrid poloidal field coil system which forms a conpound magnetic field realized by producing an ohmic heating field, a vertical field, a quadrupole field, etc. using the field coils around the plasma. This control method adopts decoupling and dead beat control to accomplish a fast response control loop by cancelling mutual inductances among field coils. It was evaluated by digital simulations using a state space model and is now available for applications to realize fast responses of coil currents without current over shoots
