The Q3D magnetic spectrograph

Description

During the year 1983 several changes have been done at the Q3D system, especially to broaden the range of possible reactions for mass measurements: A new bending magnet in the beam line deflects ions with B x rho up to 15 kG x m; a new focal plane detector with better dE and E resolution allows the separation of ions with masses up to A approx.= 40 together with strong background suppression, and an electronically controlled gas flow system shows excellent long-time stability, thus allowing the measurement of reactions with very low cross sections.
