Photoproduction of charged particle with high transverse momentum

Description

Inclusive cross sections of high transverse moment charged pions induced by a high energy photon beam have been measured. These results do not account, neither in slope nor in normalisation, for the VDM component of the photon, evaluated with pion induced data taken in the same experimental conditions after VDM subtraction, excellent agreement is found with QCD calculations up to second order in αs, in an extended cinematic region, different choices of the gluon fragmentation function do not alter this conclusion. Our measures of the inclusive final state charge asymmetries also confirm QCD expectations. 42 refs

Abstract (French)

Les sections efficaces inclusives de pions charges de grande impulsion transverse induits par un faisceau de photons de haute energie ont ete mesurees. Ces resultats ne traduisent, ni en pente ni en normalisation, la composante VDM du photon, evaluee a l'aide de donnees prises avec un faisceau de pions dans les memes conditions experimentales; apres soustraction de la composante VDM, un excellent accord est trouve avec des calculs de QCD effectues jusqu'au deuxieme ordre en αs, dans un domaine cinematique tres etendu; le choix de differentes fonctions de fragmentation du gluon ne change pas cet accord. Nos mesures des asymetries de charge de l'etat final inclusif confirment aussi les predictions de QCD
