Re-entrant insulator design for Geiger-Mueller tube or the like
Description
A Geiger-Mueller tube is presented which has an insulator designed such that the anode and cathode are electrically isolated from each other and the dielectric-metal interface is shielded from the Geiger discharge, in order to pro-long the life of the cathode. A hollow, cylindrical cathode has an anode coaxially positioned within it and an insulator at either end of the tube for supporting the anode and for shielding the extremity of the cathode from the discharge
