Description
Preparation, microstructure and thermoelectric properties of the bulk (AgSbTe2)m (PbTe)n family of compounds AgPb18Sb1-xTe20 with x = 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5 have been studied. More homogeneous samples with the absence of nanosized inhomogeneity were obtained by quenching the melts in liquid nitrogen. The Seebeck coefficients of AgPb18Sb1-xTe20 were negative, indicating n-type conduction behavior. The highest power factor of PF = 0.25 x 10-3 W m-1 K-2 is found for the sample AgPb18Sb0.9Te20 at 470 K. The influence of Sb content in the AgPb18Sb1-xTe20 compounds was also investigated. The results suggested that the preparation conditions, microstructure and compositions strongly affect the thermoelectric properties of this series of compounds
