On the covection mass transfer under conditions of electron-beam feating of steel

Creators

Description

Convection mass transfer under conditions of electron beam heating is characterized by much smaller, as compared with induction heating, values of constants of mass transfer rates for impUrities the process of removal of which is limited by diffusion, that proves a low intensity of the convection melt mixing. A rather deep degree of electron-beam metal refining as compared with vacuum induction refining when transferring to industrial devices is explained by a higher (an order and more) value of specific reaction gas-melt (S/V) surface. When transferring to industrial devices the boundary temperature of changes in the limiting stage of the process of removing the impurities shift to the range of lower temperatures, which increases the role of diffusion control in the kinetics of vacuum metal refining
